Middle of March

It's hard to believe that we are in the middle of March!! This school year is flying by. It seems as though sickness has hit hard this year. We encourage you to appropriately respond to your child's needs, but realize each day spent out of the classroom is a day they are not receiving instruction.  Let's work together to ensure your child is as successful as possible.

Students had their Byrnes Health Center Visit today. The students were very respectful and learned a great deal about Drugs. This is also a topic they recently started in Health class. Now might be a good time to start a conversation with your child about making the right choices for their health.

Math- The students are doing well with fractions. We have been multiplying fractions for the past couple days/weeks. We are already half way through unit 7. Please continue to encourage your child to attempt their homelinks each night. I have been sending incomplete homelinks home on Thursday attached to Thursday check ins.

Science- We have completed our Adaptations and Patterns unit and have moved into Environment and Ecology. This is my favorite!! (Have I said that before?!?!) We are going to get into the impact humans have on the environment.

Reading – As of Friday we will have shared our group powerpoint presentations on the Iditarod.  Next week will be a week of our end of unit assessment.

Writing – We are also finishing our Iditarod essays.  We will be completing our district writing assessment next week.

We have had a great time following our mushers across the state of Alaska.
