September 5th-8th

We hope you enjoyed the long weekend! It made for a nice short week. The students came back ready to work and socialize. We have a chatty group this year, but hope to find ways to use it for the greater good.

Math- We looked at Number stories and sentences as well as traditional addition methods. The students are adjusting to the expectations of a blended learning classroom and beginning to see the benefits of completing their work. (They get to create and play [math] games). Next week we will be looking at traditional subtraction, units of measurement, and points, lines, and rays.

Science- We have begun our matter unit and how to classify matter based on its' properties. We will dive much deeper into the topic next week looking at mass, volume, and density.

Reading – We are continuing our study on character traits.  We are looking at what motivates our characters this week.   We finished one of our read alouds  Apple Island or the Truth About Teachers

Writing – We have finished our story arc, and have started drafting our first story.

Social Studies – We have begun studying rules and laws and why they are important.

Up and Coming:
September 21st- Fourth Grade Field Trip (Still looking for a few more volunteers to chaperone)
Cross Country Meet- More details to come.
