January!!

Woah! What just happened?!?! I skipped one week of newsletter updates and all of a sudden the month of January was gone!!
So here's what we have been up to...

*Reading / Writing / Social Studies – We are really into learning about the American Revolution!  All of Mrs. Bream’s subjects are focused here.  In Reading we are working in groups to create PowerPoint presentations about one topic of the American Revolution.  In Writing we are working on individual chapter books.  We are only at the point of researching for these assignments.  We are getting a lot of our background information from the Liberty’s Kids video series.  You can find these on YouTube, and the students love them.  The students may rewatch them at home, however, they are asked to not go past episode # 10.

We read “Misty of Chincoteague” and absolutely loved it.  A new book is soon to come for our read aloud.

* Math- We just finished unit 5 today. The students worked hard adding and subtracting fractions, figuring out symmetry and angles. The next unit will begin on Monday. This unit is FULL of division!!! I will attempt to keep you updated with our learning. I should have some videos for your students to rewatch with you, if you need the extra support. They are enjoying working through Math on their Symbaloo learning paths.

*Science- Adaptations and Patterns is the name of this unit. We have already figured out how plants and animals grow and live, as well as how they are classified. Next week we start to get into some real fun with adaptations!!!

Our PRIDE assembly was yesterday and many of our students worked hard to earn awards like Honor Roll and Principal's Honor Roll. Next Semester, students can also earn the Improvement Award. Please return any report card envelopes.

Mrs. Bream- "Go Eagles!"

Mrs. Lankford- "We got new worms for the compost!!"
